In late 2022, shortly after the release of ChatGPT, technologists and friends Pablo and Samad began exploring AI solutions. They were amazed by the potential of large language models (LLMs) to transform how we access and consume information.
A casual meeting in a Stockholm cafe the following year sparked an idea that would set two individuals on a path into the AI world. With a shared history in mentorship, they recognized that career guidance was often limited to those with connections and resources. They believed that AI, particularly the summarization capabilities of LLMs, could democratize information and empower young people to make informed decisions about their future.
Throughout 2024, they immersed themselves in the Swedish youth mentoring landscape, volunteering with major organizations to identify barriers. They found that while Sweden has amazing support groups, the traditional mentoring process was often hard to scale.
In 2025 they pivoted MaiMentor to supercharge career mentorship. Combining an AI-powered digital experience with a network of real professionals, MaiMentor now empowers youth to find their own path—without waiting for a match.
The team consists of fifteen volunteers and has an official collaboration with Mittlivsval, an organization that has been working with youths in Gothenburg and Stockholm since 2016.
